A NEW HOME IN TENERIFE
For one couple, Tenerife has become more than a favourite escape. They were looking for a home of their own, somewhere to retreat to throughout the year, share with family and return to whenever island life called. Turning that vision into reality for us meant understanding the destination, exploring the right locations, meeting trusted local experts and navigating the many details that come with purchasing a home abroad. From the first flight to the final details of looking after the property, the entire journey was carefully arranged around what they wanted their life in Tenerife to look like.

A HOME ABROAD, BEAUTIFULLY CARED FOR
Tenerife has long been shaped by its relationship with the Atlantic. Once an important stop on maritime routes between Europe, Africa and the Americas, the island developed a culture influenced by its volcanic landscape, coastal communities and centuries of exchange. Today, life in Tenerife moves at a gentler pace, as the climate invites people outdoors year-round, between the ocean and mountains, with the south of the island that combines relaxed island living with sophisticated restaurants, golf, beaches and well-connected resorts.
It is this balance that has made Tenerife increasingly appealing as a place to own rather than simply visit. Finding the right property for us means understanding the character of each area, assessing a home for both lifestyle and long-term potential, and having trusted people on the ground to oversee the details once you are away. From sourcing the right property to then maintaining the pool, arranging cleaning, overseeing interiors, servicing air conditioning and managing security, owning a home abroad should feel like an extension of the lifestyle itself, not another responsibility.
a climate MADE FOR LIVING
Tenerife is shaped by a climate as varied as its landscape. Trade winds, Atlantic currents and the presence of Mount Teide create a patchwork of microclimates. While the greener north receives more cloud and rainfall, the south is known for its warmer, drier days and generous sunshine throughout the year. In Tenerife the weather influences the way life is lived: terraces become extensions of the home, lunches drift into the afternoon and evenings remain outdoors long after sunset. It is this year-round ease that makes this island a place where returning never has to depend on the time of year.
THE RESEARCH STARTS
The journey starts with Business Class flights arranged to Tenerife and a private executive transfer waiting on arrival. For the next eight nights, two connecting Premium Ocean View rooms at Tivoli La Caleta provide a base on the Costa Adeje coastline, close enough to explore the areas under consideration while still allowing the trip to feel like time away. And of course, before the first viewing, there is space to settle into the island. To understand its pace, explore the neighbourhoods and begin imagining what spending more time here might actually feel like.
Then the search begins, a carefully considered selection of properties is firstly arranged around the couple’s requirements prior to filling the schedule with appointments. Multi-million properties are shortlisted for private viewings across several days, giving them time to consider each one properly rather than moving from door to door. The first afternoon begins with a drive through the surrounding area alongside the local property specialist, offering context beyond the homes themselves, because finding the right property is also about the road you will drive home on, the restaurant around the corner, the view from the neighbourhood and how a place feels once you step beyond its front gate.
BEYOND THE VIEWING
However, identifying the right residence is the beginning of the process and only first step towards owning a home abroad. Alongside the viewings, a meeting with an independent local lawyer is coordinated in Costa Adeje, giving the couple access to the professional guidance needed to understand the legal considerations surrounding a potential purchase in Spain.
The process is deliberately unhurried and viewings are spread throughout the trip, not compressed into a single day. This way, you'd have the opportunity to return to favourite areas, ask further questions and experience Tenerife as actual future homeowners. By the final viewing, the conversation is no longer only about square metres, interiors or ocean views. It is about which property could genuinely become theirs.
FROM PROPERTY TO HOME
Once the right home is found, the work changes, but it doesn't stop. Owning a property overseas comes with an entirely different set of considerations, particularly during the months when its owners are elsewhere. So the support extends beyond sourcing and purchasing into the everyday care of the home itself.
Property maintenance and regular cleaning can be coordinated, alongside pool care, air-conditioning servicing and security. Interior requirements can be managed locally too, ensuring the property remains exactly as its owners expect it to be between visits. This means landing in Tenerife without a list of jobs waiting behind the front door. The pool is cared for. The property is clean. The systems have been checked. The details that are difficult to manage from another country already have someone looking after them. And when the owners return, the stay will begin before they even arrive, from transfers waiting at the airport to personal touches and welcome arrangements waiting at home.
THE KEYS ARE ONLY THE BEGINNING
A second home should create freedom, not another list of responsibilities. For this couple, the brief began with finding a holiday property in Tenerife. It grew into something much more comprehensive: Business Class travel, private transfers, luxury accommodation, carefully selected property viewings, local expertise, legal support and, ultimately, the ongoing management of their new home.
